I'm Edward Dye, a wedding photographer based in New York City. I've photographed more than 600 weddings since 2008 — most around New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Connecticut, and some as far as California and Canada.
I photograph weddings the way I was trained to photograph news: quietly, watching for the thing that's about to happen instead of arranging it. Three years and more than 700 assignments as a photojournalist taught me that a moment happens once. It doesn't wait, and you either see it coming or you miss it.
I've worked in every condition there is. Hotel ballrooms, dark theaters, museums, barns, open fields, train stations, historic mansions, city rooftops, crowded parks, beaches, small restaurants, private homes, and farms. Rain, snow, sleet, harsh midday sun, nighttime, blizzards, and hurricanes. After 600 weddings, very little surprises me anymore.
The weddings I know. I've photographed hundreds of Catholic and Jewish weddings — full church ceremonies at St. Patrick's Cathedral and beyond, and Jewish weddings from the tisch through the hora. Multi-day Indian weddings are a specialty: mehndi, sangeet, baraat, ceremony, reception, with a second photographer as standard. Nigerian celebrations, Chinese tea ceremonies, Orthodox weddings — traditions are where documentary photography earns its keep. And if your day carries no traditions at all, just the two of you and the people you love, that's a story I know how to tell too.
Full pricing is on this site — no forms, no waiting on a PDF. Collections start at $5,000.
If you're looking for someone to document your day rather than direct it, I'd love to hear from you. Tell me your date and venue and I'll reply the same day.
